With De Achtergrond, Extrapool responds to the growing appreciation for drawing as an art form. They invite artists with a distinctive signature to create large-scale wall drawings in their exhibition space. These works are not standalone images but form an integral part of Extrapool. In combination with the constantly evolving stencil prints on the walls, they engage in a dynamic interaction with the program.

Met De Achtergrond speelt Extrapool in op de groeiende waardering voor tekenen als kunstvorm. Zij nodigen kunstenaars met een onderscheidende signatuur uit om grootschalige wandtekeningen te realiseren in hun tentoonstellingsruimte. Deze werken zijn geen op zichzelf staande afbeeldingen, maar vormen een integraal onderdeel van Extrapool. In combinatie met het voortdurend veranderende stencildrukwerk op de muren gaan zij een dynamische interactie aan met het programma.
